Matt Babcock, PhD

Dr. Matthew C. Babcock is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology & Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he directs the Integrative Blood Pressure Control (IBPC) Laboratory. His research examines the cardiovascular, autonomic, renal, and endocrine mechanisms linking testosterone and aging to blood pressure regulation, with the goal of understanding why cardiovascular risk shifts as hormone levels change across the lifespan. His work is supported by an active NIH K01 award.

Dr. Babcock earned his PhD at the University of Delaware under the mentorship of Bill Farquhar, followed by postdoctoral training with Kerrie Moreau at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Before joining VCU, he was on faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He is also a founding member of the Cardiovascular Collective, a collaborative research network spanning VCU, Indiana University, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Outside of work, Matt enjoys reading, running, and spending time with his wife, son, and dog.
